Sjukhusområdet
At Sjukhusområdet, where thereused to be a hospitla, the real estate owner SBB plans to build new housing for different target groups. The vision is a district that is transformed from a care institution to a living district with mixed content. The district will take advantage of the unique waterfront location, respect the original architecture and further develop the qualities of the park landscape.
The project
SBB wants to transform the area into a mixed area with housing and businesses.
In addition to housing in ordinary apartments, the early plans also include ideas for sheltered housing, elderly housing and care homes.
The park structure and the green routes for walking and cycling are important to both preserve and strengthen in the continued process.
The area
The hospital area is located on a slope from the E4 down to the shore of Södra Sundet. To the west is the Fiskekroken area and a marina with a mooring area for boats. To the east is Gådeåparken.
Härnösand Hospital was built in the 19th century and has since been extended in stages. Today, there are just over 26,000 square meters of premises with mainly health and care activities and Region Västernorrlad as the dominant tenant. Around 40 percent of the premises are currently empty.
Along the waterfront runs a promenade that is very popular for cycling and walking, and people like to gather in Gådeåparken for picnics and socializing.
March 2021
The community committee grants planning permission and the work of preparing a new detailed plan begins. The planning work also applies to some additional neighboring properties.
