Barsviken Chapel

In the 18th century, many fishermen from southern Norrland (the Gävle fishermen) came to fish along the coast. As church attendance was compulsory at the time, the Gävle fishermen applied to build a chapel in Barsviken. Not only did they need a place of worship, they also needed somewhere to store their gear during the winter months.

The chapel was inaugurated on July 10, 1762.
