Discover the county's history and cultural heritage. The museum has exhibitions depicting the county's history over 10,000 years and some temporary exhibitions. The open-air museum, which is open during the summer season, features historic houses that tell the story of life in the past.
Sweden's largest car museum has 14 themed halls and offers a journey through time from 1899-1990. There are more than cars to look at, mopeds, cell phones, airplane engines and much more. There are also parking spaces for motorhomes.
Härnösand has a large number of sculptures, statues, painted containers, electrical cabinets and other public art. The digital art walk guide shows the works on a map as well as pictures and information about each work. Take your phone with you on your walk or do a fully digital art walk.
Östanbäcken
The Östanbäcken district is one of Härnösand's oldest neighborhoods, mostly built with wooden houses from the 18th and 19th centuries. Östanbäcken was almost demolished, but the demolition was stopped and today the district is a listed building.
Join a guided tour of Hemsö Fortress. It was the largest facility of the coastal defense and is the only one preserved of its kind. At a depth of 40 meters, 320 soldiers served. The environment is untouched and preserved, both inside and out. There is also a restaurant with a lovely view.
In summer, Härnösand's guide association regularly organizes city walks, which take visitors through Härnösand's 400-year history. Through Östanbäckens leafy neighborhood with charming wooden houses to stately stone houses on Nybrogatan.
Enjoy the atmosphere of the old lodge along with over 650 car models. The museum, open during the summer, features everything from vintage cars to motorcycles. There are also conference rooms and an automobile café with a restaurant.
One of Sweden's finest neoclassical buildings. It contains furnishings from different eras, the altarpiece with motifs from Calvary by David von Cöln, the four chandeliers from the 17th century and the baptismal font, a Spanish Rococo work in silver from 1777.
For 100 years, Vårsta Diakoni has trained deacons and home sisters, among others. They have also supported and been active in contexts where people have not received sufficient support from society. In the museum, you can take part in this history, as well as contribute with your own experiences that Vårsta has been involved in.
Sambiblioteket
The Sambiblioteket has an Infopoint with tourist information. There is also a library, a learning center with study places and event and meeting rooms for up to 350 people. It is also a workplace for several departments of Härnösand municipality and other local companies.
