Fishing

Fishing in the sea is free without a fishing license. There are plenty of good fishing spots from Sälsten all the way out to Lövhällan. You can catch sea trout all along the coast. You can also fish in lakes, ponds, streams and rivers. Most fishing spots require a fishing license. You can find out where to buy a fishing license on the website of the fishing club or conservation area.

Before you go out on the ice, you should learn about ice. Always check the ice before you go out on it, even if other fishermen are already on the ice. Be aware of the weaknesses of the ice, such as at the entrance and exit. It may also be a good idea to test drill. At least one decimeter of core ice is a good measure of when the ice is thick enough for ice fishing.

Ice thickness can vary greatly and ice can change rapidly depending on currents and changing weather conditions. Never fish alone on weak ice, bring company and don't take unnecessary risks.

It can be a great advantage to wear a so-called floating suit. Always wear ice studs on the outside of your jacket or overalls and have an ice spike, lifeline and whistle close at hand.
