With the sea in the city, Härnösand is a perfect place for canoeing. Here, inexperienced paddlers can embark on shorter trips on calm waters while experienced canoeists can find longer and more challenging trips. Kayaks are available for hire at Mellanholmen and Hemsön.

Friluftsfrämjandet organizes various canoeing activities in the summer, such as basic courses/try-outs, evening trips, longer day trips and sometimes multi-day trips with overnight stays. Canoes are available for hire in connection with the activities.
