Green industrial establishment in Torsboda
In Torsboda Industrial Park, the world-leading green tech company PTL will build a battery parts factory. A billion-dollar investment that is initially expected to create 1,900 jobs at the Torsboda site.
The project
Torsboda Industrial Park is one of Europe's best sites for an electricity-intensive industry. Everything such an industry needs is in place, for example:
- Large surface area
- Lots of electricity
- 100 percent green electricity
- Low energy prices
- Good logistics
- Commuting distance to three different urban areas
The industrial area is situated just aside the national road E4 and with commuting distance to Härnösand.
The area
The battery parts factory is planned to be placed in the lower part of the area. At the other side of the road several other stakeholders has shown interest.
Torsboda is located in Timrå municipality, midway between Härnösand and Sundsvall. The industrial area is right next to the E4, on both sides of the road. The railway also runs right past the area.
Sundsvall Timrå Airport is five minutes away and there are four ports within 25 minutes. Sundsvall also has a logistics park.
March 2024
PTL has gone through a domestic Overseas Direct Investments (ODI) process to obtain permission to bring investment funds to Sweden. The company also submits an application for an environmental permit to the Land and Environment Court.
August 2023
Timrå municipality adopts the detailed plan for Torsboda Nord, where one or more additional players can establish electricity-intensive industry.
May 2023
The company PTL announces that it signs an agreement with Torsboda Industrial Park. The agreement involves a billion-dollar investment that is initially expected to create 1900 jobs at the Torsboda site.
