Bathing areas
There are plenty of nice swimming spots in Härnösand. Lovely sea baths with soft sandy beaches and warm lake baths. And a nice indoor swimming pool facility.
Mountain bike, BMX or an ordinary bike. In Härnösand there is cycling for all tastes. Outdoor areas and challenging trails for MTB, an exciting park for skate and BMX and regular roads for exercise cycling or a lovely regular bike ride.
Härnösand and its surroundings offer a lot of wonderful fishing. You can fish in lakes, ponds, streams, rivers and of course in the sea. Most fishing spots require a fishing license, but along the coast fishing is free.

Härnösand is one of Sweden's best places for surfing. Autumn and winter storms create big waves on the outside of Härnösand and surfers from all over Sweden and even Norway come to Smitingen and Notsand to ride the waves.
With the sea in the city, Härnösand is a perfect place for canoes and SUP boards. Here, inexperienced paddlers can embark on shorter trips on calm waters while experienced canoeists can find longer and more challenging trips.
Birdwatching has become increasingly popular as it can be done from the kitchen window as well as on adventures by the Ångermanland waterways.
Long-distance skating is popular on bays and lakes when ice conditions allow. But don't forget your ice studs. If you don't want to skate on open ice, there are several other groomed ice rinks that you can skate on, as long as the temperature is cold enough.
A ski trip on Södra sundet when the spring sun is shining can be the highlight of winter. Or a run in Vårdkasbacken or the mile track at Bondsjöhöjden.
