Kanaluddens strandpark
Kanaluddens stranpark will be developed into a destination park that is attractive to both Härnösand residents and visitors. New meeting places and activity areas will be developed along the entire stretch from Bryggaren Strand to the swimming pool and Hernö Gin Hotel.
The project
The municipality of Härnösand is developing the entire area from Bryggaren Strand to the swimming pool and Hernö Gin Hotel. The design proposal is based on previous documentation as well as thoughts and ideas from residents, associations in the area and from various departments within the municipality.
The area is divided into three sub-areas:
1. The hotel and the swimming pool
At the swimming pool you will find a jetty and seating. There will be an open space and lighting between the hotel and the swimming pool so that this passage can also be used in darker seasons. There will be a new accessible entrance to the swimming pool. At the side of the hotel, facing the canal, there is a seating area where you can relax and enjoy a moment in the evening sun.
2. The amusement park and boat square
This is the area with the most activities and events. There are opportunities for boules and cornhole, for example. There is also space for a kiosk and public toilets. Båttorget is a meeting place where the park meets the pier. Near the swimming pool there is an activity area and an outdoor gym.
By the water there is a meeting place with the possibility of having a dance floor. If you don't feel like dancing, it can be a lovely place to just socialize and meet.
A playground is also planned with a maritime theme where children and young people will have the opportunity for creative play.
3. Undulating landscape and barbecue areas
At the intersection where the pedestrian and cycle paths meet, there will be a new meeting place surrounded by cherry trees. Closest to Bryggaren Strand, there will be a hilly landscape where hills are built up to create a landscape with variation and dynamics. The hills will be a living environment that invites children and young people to play and be active both in summer and winter. There will be several barbecue areas by the water.
The area
Kanaluddens Strandpark is adjacent to Härnösands Simhall and Hernö Gin Hotel.
Kanaluddens Strandpark stretches from Bryggaren Strand to the pedestrian and bicycle bridge over to Mellanholmen. The area has long been a popular place for recreation and exercise. Many people move along the water here.
The swimming pool is one of Härnösand's most visited places and in summer there is a lot of activity around the marina and the associated jetty.
We are now developing the whole area into a destination park where Härnösand residents and visitors can meet and get active.

A unanimous municipal board decides to allocate SEK 12 million for investments in Kanaludden's beach park in 2024-2025.
An initial design proposal is presented.
