Per and Linda swapped Switzerland for Stigsjö
In 2020, Linda and Per Grön became - somewhat by chance - summer house owners. A year ago, they made a move. They left Switzerland, where they had lived for five years, and made their summer house in Vike, Stigsjö, their permanent home.
OK, the house purchase was not entirely a coincidence. Linda grew up in Stigsjö and the couple planned to move back to Norrland at some point. During a summer vacation in 2020, the house in Vike was put up for sale. The couple went to a viewing and immediately felt that it was right, even though the circumstances made it difficult to move in immediately.
- "It's basically a very old house, built perhaps as early as the late 18th century, but it was above all the location and the plot that we fell for. So we joined the bidding and when the vacation was over we were homeowners, says Per.
For two years, the house in Vike was only a summer residence, but at the end of 2022, Per and Linda moved in for real. A simpler life, the proximity to Linda's family and nature weighed heavily.
"A few years later, when I was studying design and about to start a new internship, I couldn't help but apply to Technichus again. I am grateful for that as today I have a real dream job!"
Linda Grön, exhibition producer.
Today, Linda is an exhibition producer at Technichus Science Center, a job she first came into contact with during high school.
- "After an internship, I got a job as an assistant to the then exhibition producer and thought it was great. A few years later, when I was studying design and was about to start a new internship, I couldn't help but apply to Technichus again. I am grateful for that as today I have a real dream job!
Per is basically a programmer and has worked at Spotify and Google. Now, together with a friend and colleague, he is fully committed to his own company Lumiary, a tech company that aims to develop microphones for professional audio, consumer electronics but also medical technology. Instead of the giant Google's complex in Zurich, he now has the office at his mother-in-law's house.
- "Haha, there is a difference, but it works very well for me. And many of today's big tech companies have started in garages, so why wouldn't it work to start at my mother-in-law's in Stigsjö?
